This book is ridiculous but funny in a Dog Man/Stick Dog type way. Kind of first chapter ish but lots of pictures!

The title really says it all. You thought they were just loafing around eating bread crumbs, but really, pigeons are protecting the world one park at a time. My 1st grade nephew loved it as a readaloud and stretchingly can read it for himself.

You know pigeons, right? They're the ones that are always underfoot in towns, looking for crumbs, hopping around the place. Maybe you've thrown some crumbs sometimes? Or maybe you've thought they were stupid.

Well, you shouldn't. (That is, you shouldn't think they're stupid. You should definitely still throw crumbs.) Because these pigeons ... are SUPERHEROES!

Well, the ones in the book are. The one you passed the other day with its head stuck in a cup might not be. Unless that was a cunning disguise! That's the thing with pigeons. You just can't tell.

This is a fantastic, really funny book. It's divided into three connected stories, detailing how the crime fighting REALPIGEONS squad comes together and solves the mysteries of the empty park, the constantly trapped bats and the stink bomb threatened food fair. The heavy illustrations will make this popular with younger readers, and older ones will love reading it on their own.

There's a great sequel hook, lots of memorable characters, and brilliant humour. This is a great read. Just don't be surprised if your young reader shows a lot of interest in streets pigeons after reading...
