I was reading The Lion and The Unicorn, one of the essays in this slim, but fantastic volume of Orwell's essays and there are some lines in there that still ring true today, considering the most recent UK government. I have most of Orwell's fiction, but I'll try to read more of his essays after this wee book. Great stuff!

purchased this one for myself. i did not enjoy it as much as 'books v. cigarettes'. this was in large part due to ~1/2 of the book being dedicated to a single essay which did not interest me (i'm speaking about 'the lion and the unicorn'). it made the book feel a bit of a chore. the other essays were all very nice though, especially the final essay of the book: 'politics and the english language'. much like what else i've read of his, i cannot say i agree with him on everything, but that particular essay certainly left an impression on me. also, why does this guy love to describe things as 'schizophrenia'?? was that a normal thing to say at the time??
