I just kept getting distracted, going back to read only to get distracted and I decided to quit. Nothing about this book spoke to me. I had zero emotional connection to these people. I was especially not interested in Hera's POV because I felt it added nothing. Maybe one day I'll return to it.

Lovely story about a family - what family means, how you can discover your family, how important is it to know who/where you come from.
This novel is told from the perspective of several female characters, altering between August 1971 and present day.
Rita - A young woman, nanny to a wealthy family; Hera - daughter of Jeannie, adolescent, struggling with the aftermath of her mother's dead daughter, her role in her family; the family moves to Foxcote to while their house is repaired after a terrifying fire. In the middle of the woods, secluded from a nearby small town, Hera stumbles upon an abandoned baby. Will this baby heal Jeannie? Will their family recover?
Sylvie - an orphan raised by two loving parents; after years of struggling with her unhappy marriage, Sylvie decides it is over - she deserves a happy life. While her daughter copes with this news, Annie moves in with Sylvie's mother. After a terrible accident, Sylvie's mother is in a coma healing from severe trauma. Annie discovers she is pregnant - her boyfriend's mother pushing for a termination.
Throughout it all, a story unfolds. Of a foundling. A family in the woods. Love beginning to bloom. Violence tearing it apart.
I enjoyed this book - quick, easy read of a family discovering themselves.

3.5. Loved Rita’s story. It was my favorite part. Some of the other parts seemed a bit too unrealistic to me and the ending was wrapped up in a nice pretty bow too much, but I loved the forest and Rita and Robbie so much.
