I liked the first book better, but this book was interesting enough for me to want to get the third book of this series. I am glad I finally got to it and I wish I read it when I first got it because my younger self would've loved it.

A Dark, Gothic Tale Of Romance…
And Murder.

Okay, admit it, that caught your attention didn't it?? Well it sure caught mine. From that moment on, I was HOOKED.

This is not a big book so it didn't take me long to read, and I would like to send out a big THANK YOU to the awesome people on the Poison Diaries Team for sending me a copy to review!

At the time I started Nightshade, I had not read The Poison Diaries, but now I feel that I must, just so I can enjoy all of the awesomeness that is this series. And so I can better understand Jessamine and Weed's relationship. Weed got to be the narrator at times, and I liked that because, well, Weed is AWESOME!

This book as written really well. I was so absorbed in this book and I was able to feel everything that Jesssamine felt. Sadness, Anger... If SHE felt it, I felt it. Does that make sense?

This book is great to read after it gets dark (which is what I did) It gave me goosebumps, and had my mouth hanging open at times, because I wasn't expecting some of what happened. And the ending! Oh my gosh, the ENDING!! I need the next book, like, right now! I need to know what happens next!

I would recommend this book to any and everybody who is willing to listen to me. :)

I feel like these books are getting better. I did find myself confused from time to time, because the story would change from perspective to perspective, and there was never any indication as to whose it was. I think these books could be a little longer, with more detail, and it wouldn't take away from the story. There are some things that just happen too fast, and there isn't much to it. Even though they're fairly predictable, I'll still get the third book, just to see how it plays out.

This was an interesting read. Similar to the first book not too much happened throughout the story: Weed went to Italy to try and find Jessamine, while Jessamine changed her name twice and traveled across England killing people.
It was weird how completely Jessamine’s character changed throughout the book. But this is presumably the effect of all the drugs she was taking and having Oleander talking to her all the time.
It was good to see Weed being proactive for a change and tracking down Signora Baglioni at the Orto botanico, in Italy. I liked the way that Weed used his ability to talk to plants and ask them to flower etc. to put on shows to make money and in the end to entertain King George III. It reminded me of the way Dustfinger in Inkheart by Cornelia Funke performs using his special abilities. There did seem to be a few random scenes however that did not seem necessary to the story, such as the human dissection scene.
I quite liked how the book ended; not with the happy reunion of Weed and Jessamine as you would expect, but with Oleander burying Jessamine in her father’s poison garden, leaving Weed to run after her again.
Overall this book receives four stars. It was similar to the first book, but it gains an extra star due to the darker route that this book takes and the unconventional ending.

Hmmmm. I should have left it at the first one. I just have trouble buying in to this story. It also felt as if a whole other book was deleted from the middle of this one. We went from point A to B to C to G.

I just want to start of by saying that I won this book in a giveaway.

I haven't read the first one, so I was a little apprehensive about it. Ever since Twilight, I've become very 'meh' about young adult books, but this book blew me away. My start with it was a little shaky, not only because of the fact that it was in the first person, but also because of the tone. The time period and the way they talk so eloquently really threw me off. It's been a while since I've read anything with that sort of feel. I've been sticking with modern books so long it took me a bit to get into it. Oh, but when I got into it. It was seriously hard to put down and I practically devoured it.

I just love how dark it was. It just got darker and darker and I was sitting here going "OMG!!!" is this for TEENS? I wish this had been written when I was younger. I would've loved it to death. The characters are beautifully well-rounded and imperfect. The Prince of Poisons is the most delicious temptation. I seriously love that, for once, the boy is the one saving the girl from herself. Usually it's the other way around. And most of all, I love the way he talks to the plants. The way the plants speak is so beautifully and hauntingly written.

I've already recommended this book to several of my friends. I would recommend it to anyone else as well. Now I just need to get my hands on a copy of the first one!

I don’t really know what to feel about this series. Jessamine, the main girl, was the stereotypical perfect daughter in the first book. And now she is descending into a femme fatale role and I’m just the emotional equivalent of this emoji: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
