I feel left out of the hype for this book I see it recommended everywhere but I just couldn’t get into it. I know it’s a somewhat common trope but I couldn’t get over the extreme similarities to Love and Other Words. Also, maybe I’m a terrible person but I kind of wanted Percy and Charlie to end up together? I found Sam to be boring.

What I loved about this book was the setting, the friends to lovers trope, and the coming of age trope. I gave it a solid three stars but could not rate it higher because it was just a bit juvenile for me. I am 41 so... I could see someone in their 20s or 30s enjoying it more than I did.I would recommend it to someone who is looking for an easy vacation read. It unfortunately was not memorable for me and I will probably forget about it before the year is over.

Wow definitely a perfect start to this year! What I love about this book is first off the friendship!! I love Sam and Percy's friendship so freaking much! This book isn't about a perfect friendship or a love at first sight romance, that's what's good about it. It's about 2 friends who catch feelings who don't know what to do in these situations and don't want to mess up their friendship up. It's about 2 imperfect people messing up but they are still trying to fix their mistakes or just trying to live with that guilt of messing up. That was really amazing to read about.

“I fell in love with you when I was thirteen, and I never stopped. You’re it for me.”-Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

Percy met this boy named Sam while staying at their family cottage for the summer. Every summer, for 6 years, they spent all their time together. They loved swimming and working together in Sam’s family restaurant. They become inseparable and their friendship started turning into something more. But something made their relationship fall apart.

Time has passed, and 12 years later, Percy is going back to the lakeshore of her childhood. They haven’t seen each other since that last summer they spent together. All the memories start flooding back. Percy isn’t ready to bare with what happened between them. They still had a huge connection to one another. Percy needed to finally confront him about her decisions and biggest regrets. Is their relationship strong enough to make it through this time, after all these years?

This is a perfect summer romance novel! I know it’s been all over Instagram. But let me tell you, it’s definitely worth the hype. I absolutely loved it!

I felt so much emotions for Percy and Sam’s characters. My heart hurt along with them. You feel so connected to them. I loved the timelines going back to when their love first started.

If I could rate it more than 5 stars, I would! Carley Fortune, you are a very talented writer. I can’t believe this is your debut novel! I can’t wait to see what you come out with next!

I love this much but the little blip at the ending is the only reason this isn’t a 5 ⭐️ for me.

Such a cute book! Very much “Summer I Turned Pretty” vibe bed which is what drew me to the book in the first place. I loved how it was set in Toronto and Barry’s Bay- two places I have a connection to. I also like how the book deals with friendship, grief and coming of age.
