This book was really interesting! I liked it more than Universal Harvester. I went in knowing nothing about the book (I just really like John Darnielle so I bought it forever ago), so it was probably more intriguing for me than it would be for someone who knew the premise. It was a nice audiobook to listen to while doing dishes. It made me think a lot. (minor spoilers about the end) I expected the ending to be more dramatic/emotional though; it was pretty much just tense.
Graphic: Body horror, Death, Gun violence, and Suicide attempt
Moderate: Ableism, Child death, Cursing, Self harm, Suicidal thoughts, and Violence
Minor: Sexual content

A fantastic read with engaging characters throughout. The book strides along its own pace in a poetic way. It carries a rhythm you can almost tap your foot to. Worth every page. The only criticism I can think of is that I would have loved more exploration of the Trace Italian and the creation process, although I loved learning about Sean by the characters who play the game.
Graphic: Murder
Moderate: Body horror and Suicide attempt
