This book was so sweet. Definitely a cute story with a lesson it just wasn’t the usual book I pick up. But I enjoyed it for the variety.

This book was immensely beautiful and heart wrenching. I can whole heartedly relate to the grief and trauma of the main character in this book and it was a sort of weird healing for me to read this and have everything laid out in front of me like this. The trip to Italy was magical, the imagery brought Italy to life for me and I truly hope I get to go their one day. I loved the plot and the characters, everything about this book was amazing.

I was hoping to enjoy this one a bit more because it came highly recommended to me, but unfortunately, I found myself very frustrated by this book the majority of the time. I struggled to push through the first 40% of this book until I sat down and read the last 60% all at once.

Katy was not a likable character to me, and I found her relationship with her mother a bit shocking; I love my mom, but I would never call my mom "the love of my life." I felt like her mother wasn't a real person to her throughout her entire life, and I have to admit, I don't think this book made her mother a real person to her beyond realizing she wasn't perfect. There were bits and pieces of coming to realize that her family didn't respect her mother enough, but the whole book made me think about those stories of women dying and their families' eulogies being only what they had ever done for them rather than who they were; Carol was a plot device in Katy's life and in this book, and she didn't really ever evolve.

I also thought the romance aspects of this were very stilted, and I wasn't really sure why she decided to
Spoiler stay with her husband beyond Adam not being from her time...

I did think that this book was very well-written even if it plot-wise wasn't for me.

Genuinely awful. One of those books that tries to be interesting but fails insanely.
The main character needed therapy but instead got an extramarital affair that she never once feels bad about. She treats her mother like her own possession and the "plot twist" was awful, and somehow made no sense. #JusticeforEric
