This is a book to share with the women in your life. I've fallen in love with Audre and find myself mourning her all over again. She gave us so much

Full review and book club thoughts on my blog. Post will be live on Monday, January 10, 2022 @ 10am EST on Sometimes Leelynn Reads
I mean this isn’t a traditional review since how can you even critique or give critical comments (is that the same thing?) on Audre Lorde? I don’t think you can!
But I just had a lot of thoughts. Honestly, I feel like I’m still reflecting on what I listened to, and what I feel like I need to reread because I was just trying to absorb everything in time for book club and things kept hitting me left and right and I’m like… GEEZ.

I’m trying to become a more consciously intersectional feminist, and this was a beautiful place to start. These essays challenged and critiqued me while continuing to offer hope and inspiration.

Brilliant and urgent writings. Incredibly prescient. Devastating that we have been having the same conversations for so many decades—so many places where I put an exclamation point in the margins at something that could have been written yesterday. Any white person who derived value from White Fragility should read “The Uses of Anger: Women Responding to Racism.” The collection itself became a bit repetitive at times because Lorde naturally returned to the same themes in her various writings and speeches.

Wow - I’ve never read Audre Lorde before but she must be a trail blazer. I’ve read so many more recent writings that echo her exact sentiments, which she expressed decades ago. How frustrating to see how little progress has been made between then and now.

This book will be my guiding light for years to come. I am in awe of Audre and so thankful to have access to her words. This book is completely highlighted and loved on, and I can't wait to return to this book during different seasons of my life and see what additional knowledge I can gain.

Okay, before I talk about how amazing Audre Lorde is - because we all know she wrote some 10/10 things-, I...have to ask about the lack of talk about trans-experiences? I get that that wasn't her own experience, but? I feel like mentioning it at the very least wouldn't hurt.
(Maybe I also just missed it? I'm really unsure about this.)
