Haha, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Protheus is a trash man, but Valentine, oh dear Valentine. To go from victim, to king of the outlaws in a single scene is quite a feat. That plot point alone ticked this up to 4 stars for me. It seemed so out of left field, but really set his character up for that wild ending.

Lots of good laughs in this one once the trickier turns of phrase were deciphered. I think I need a Shakespearian dictionary for the rest of the plays as I continue working through them.

Sylvia and Julia were both pretty cool leading ladies, and the love triangles…squares…quadrangles? Were impressive.

I read this for a monologue. It was fun and humorous, but not my favorite play I've read by Shakespeare. Still... Julia Deserved better!

I would’ve rated it higher if Proteus didn’t get a happy ending like how is he going to try and rape Silvia after lying and saying his fiancé is dead, calling her ugly in comparison to Silvia, backstabbing LITERALLY EVERYONE IN THE PLAY. AND STILL GET A HAPPY ENDING??
AND WHY DID VALENTINE TRY TO SAY HE COULD HAVE SILVIA IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP HIM RAPING HER?? WHAT.

Julia?? Why?? Don’t take this man back you can do so much better.

Also why was the entire conflict of the play cleared up in a single short ass scene? Entire play was filled with conflict but no it’s all solved because the Duke casually changes his mind? Weak

Anyway main takeaway from this waa FuckProteus and JusticeForJulia
