Simple plot but entertaining. Audiobook narration was great. It felt a lot like an action movie.

Nena has experienced the worst inhumanity possible. Ripped from her home and subjected to unimaginable horrors, Nena has lost her family before her eyes and fallen victim to human trafficking.

Nena Knight, codenamed Echo, is now a trained assassin for an organization known as The Tribe, which provides protection for the people of Africa.

Told in two timelines, in the Before, we see how Nena's life changes drastically, being a victim of sex trafficking, held captive and abused. In the After, we see more of her as Echo, killing bad guys as an adult.

Her Name Is Knight was so full of emotions that it was hard to look away. This book is addictive and fast paced. Plus, there is a plot twist that had me cursing at the air. I can't believe this is the author's first novel.

That said, the book is quite graphic. There are depictions of violent murder and sexual assault on a repetitive basis. This book is not for everyone.

I will definitely read the second one when it comes out.

TW: Murder, Sexual Assault/Rape, Torture, Kidnapping, Physical Assault, Suicidal Thoughts, Slavery, Human Trafficking.

The thing I really liked about this book is the back and forth from “before” and “after”. Some books try this and it gets confusing; this one gets it right! I think it helps that the “before” is in 3rd person and the “after” is first person. Nena’s story is INTENSE! While some parts are very graphic, I found it was necessary to get the full scope of how Nena ended up where she was. I can’t wait for the 2nd book!

i loved following Nena’s journey in finding her power, strength, and resilience after surviving so many horrific tragedies. i was rooting for her the entire time and left so impressed and emotional over her growth. the writing style is also beautifully unique, the switching between 1st and 3rd person for her “Before” and “After” chapters was a phenomenal choice that truly enhanced the narrative journey. the only thing i didn’t enjoy was the romance subplot, it was a little too insta-love for me and it didn’t make sense that Nena would fall for someone she doesn’t know well that quickly, especially considering all of her trauma. i’m interested to see how it will all play out in the sequel!
