This book is fucking fantastic. All of Pratchett's books are fucking fantastic. In a time when so much about the world is so depressing it is nice to know that these books exist. Do yourself a favor - of you're looking for a break from reality pick up a Discworld novel. You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love Granny Weatherwax even if seeing her younger than the Aching series is still a little odd. Terry Pratchett's worldbuilding is excellent as always and I really enjoyed seeing the other effects of wizard magic versus witch headology.

I did enjoy the first two volumes of Discworld, I just can't help but feel Pratchett hits his stride in this one.

I don't often laugh out loud when I read books, but the humor here is second to none. Throw in the excellent characters like Esk and Granny Weatherwax and you have a winner.

”you can’t ask us to declare her a wizard. where’s the precedent? It’s never happened before”
“lots of things have never happened before. we’re only born once.”

this was such a delightful read. I cannot believe it’s taken me this long to return to Discworld, when I knew I would enjoy the return and indeed it was exactly what I expected. Pratchett’s writing is so accessible, so smooth, witty, quick and insightful, that the entire experience of reading his work is just lovely.

I loved all the little details of this story, I found the characters to be so charming and whilst the themes explored aren’t subtle by any means, they’re covered with more nuance than I think first meets the eye (seeing as on surface level, the execution of the main theme of this story is quite obvious). I think the events of the ending just lost me a little bit because they became more absurd and abstract and I was not 100% clear as to what was happening but I still had an amazing time.

Silly, pun-filled fun, heavy on adult humor (without using a word of profanity) and a satisfying ending. Not my favorite of the (still too few) Pratchett books I've read so far, but definitely worth the quick read.

What’s not to love about a story with witches, humour and wizarding school?
Esk was a great character to follow but Granny surpassed it all! It was witty, funny and well paced, definitely among my favourite Discworld books so far!

This was my first book in the Discworld series and I enjoyed it very much. It was a little slow in the middle but it was a very interesting read none the less. This is the first book in the witches series and most will say go right to Wyrd Sisters but this was a very good introduction in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Esk and Granny Weatherwax and the two different ideas of magic and what magic really is was interesting. Definitely a good read.

A nice fun read, with wordplay and puns to make you laugh on nearly every page.
