I liked this book. Books set in the music world have a special place in my heart, & this one did not disappoint. Catalina & Patricio are so good together, & they bring out the best in eachother. & despite being in the limelight, both characters stay true to themselves, & I will always love books with that message.
Graphic: Death of parent and Abandonment
Moderate: Cursing, Emotional abuse, Sexual content, Grief, and Alcohol
Minor: Car accident

4.5/5 stars
1/5 spice
I love Catalina and Patricio's chemistry. They have passion, tenderness, support, and camaraderie.
Even though it's a predictable story you can still enjoy the way events unfold. I mean if you need a fluffy, low conflict, low spice, romance then this is it. The Mexican culture is very present in this book, even the machismo. But I loved how Catalina stuck to her guns and fought the patriarchal expectations she had as a female mariachi. She paved her own way and made sure everyone knew where she stood.
Even with the low conflict you find that both MCs suffer from some kind of parental abuse (see TW). But it does help them bond and become each other's support when they start to struggle.
Overall a great read that was quick and fun. And while there was a few groping and kissing scenes, this is a fade to black book, with a lot of tension.
Trigger/Content warnings:
Mentions death of a parent, foster care, and parent abandonment. Emotional abuse from parent.
