I’m afraid this one wasn't entirely for me, which is unfortunate because I wanted to love it.

The first two sections are really intriguing and the author does a great job of subtly noodeling around some deep thoughts throughout the book when it comes to parenthood and what you leave behind when you're gone. Unfortunately, the last three sections go off in a direction I wasn't entirely jazzed about, and they end up being both predictable and fairly forgettable.

Overall, the story is quite unique and ruminates on a lot of interesting ideas, but it’s just a bit of a miss for me

Beautifully written and an interesting spin on the dystopian concept. Love the way Schaitkin writes about girlhood, motherhood, and the inherent fragility of the two.
