TW: slavery, racism (including racial slurs), rape/SA, child abuse, violence, murder

If you are familiar with The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, consider reading this re-imagining of Mark Twain's classic novel through the eyes of the enslaved runaway, James "Jim." This book is poignant, surprisingly humorous, eloquently written, and narrated by a fantastic and vibrant voice. Percival Everett's storytelling abilities are a true testament to the craft of writing, and I urge everyone to give this novel a chance. I'll be thinking about it for a very long time.

A fresh spin on huck Finn. This felt authentic as well as entertaining. Made me think about the way this era was written into fiction

This book is amazing. Satire at its best. I probably would have enjoyed it even more if I remembered any of Huck Finn, but I ate it up anyway.
