The Final Murder by Anne Holt

Amusingly different mystery resolution, though prose, especially during explanatory deductions (mostly failed) is very weak.

SPOILER ALERT
They figure out who did it but they can't prove it. No evidence: culprit writes mysteries and hence is an expert. On the last page she sits down on a park bench next to one of the detectives and asks, "Did you ever suspect anyone other than me?"

To be honest the only thing good about this book was the ending. Everything else was kind of meh. I think there was a lot more potential to the story. Maybe it was just the way the author told it that made this not very accessible to me.
It felt like all characters had a better development and more interesting background than the main characters. Even in a crime novel that is just a big no-no.

Nu mai știa câți oameni omorâse. Și asta n-avea nicio importanță. În majoritatea domeniilor, calitatea prima asupra cantității. În consecință, și în al ei. Chiar dacă, de-a lungul anilor, plăcerea unui stil original își pierduse farmecul.

A very good book! Very real and relatable characters. Just confusing enough before the murderer's identity is revealed.
Horrible murders, though! This is definitely not for the squeamish, or younger people.
Btw; Anne Holt MUST be a murderer.
