I think i had enough of this author. He does not interest me anymore.
4.5 stars. What can I say? SGJ is one of my favorite authors and this is a great collection of short stories. Even though these are short stories, they don't feel that way. Dark and chilling, sometimes with an emotional gut punch. Characters that always feel real.

This one took me a while to get through. There were a few that I really enjoyed
Doc story is truly a gut wrenching take on horror and grief ( a recurring theme in these stories) but this deliciously gruesome tale hits both targets spectacularly
I also quite enjoyed solve for x. This one felt pretty different from Jones usual work. While his work tends to the gruesome side this one felt cruel in a way that he usually avoids. Not an easy read but an interesting thing to see from him for sure.
I personally would probably have rated this higher if I enjoyed short stories more. It’s just not my favorite book format especially not from Jones

having only read novels by SGJ, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this collection — and now I feel silly, because of course I should’ve expected brilliance. what impressed me the most about this collection is all the different places it went and how distinct each story was.

It's always difficult to rate a short story collection. While some of them were excellent, others lacked something to give it more than 3, and others were just straight up underwhelming.
Also, even though I spaced them out and read them throughout a month, some things just seemed repetitive.
So 3.5 stars as some kind of average.
