This sent my head spinning in the best way. Like, Veronica Speedwell meets Conan Doyle. The mental faculties one must possess in order to keep up with all those strings… Impressive!

The beginning was a bit rough, namely the prevaricating and hesitating over gendering Holmes to keep it a "surprise" even when this is literally a Lady Sherlock book—but once you get past that it settles in and gets a LOT better.

I don’t know which compelled me more about this story: the mystery or the characters, which either speaks to how excellently Thomas portrays our female-Sherlock MC or how underwhelming I found the ending.
