I enjoyed the second half of the volume more with the ghost story. I admit to never being a huge fan of Shippo, or of Takahashi-sensei's depiction of Kitsune but still enjoyable.

I really liked the poltergeist storyline in this one. Everything else was kinda okay compared to it.

Volume four, for me, was more of an emotional experience for me. This volume seemed to be focused a lot on the love of a family and the power of it.
Manten and Hiten are two characters who truly demonstrate what siblings can be like. Hiten was so mean to his brother, always calling him names and constantly degrading him at every chance. Yet, Manten still sticks by his brother and follows his very word. When Manten dies, Hiten shows finally shows his love for his brother in his heartbroken despair. Though, it was kind of gross when he ate Manten's heart. I always really liked Hiten's design, but never really understood how the two of them were brothers when Manten looks more demon-esque than he does. I suppose they could be half brothers, perhaps?
The story of Mayu and the Tatari-Mokke almost made me cry. I loved this episode of the anime, but reading it was way more of a tug on the heart strings. The Tatari-Mokke, I thought, was kind of creepy looking. How could such a creepy thing be the guardian of dead children until they move on? If I was a dead child and had to meet that thing, I'd probably be terrified.
Part of me kind of wanted to see them be dragged to hell, just to see how that would have resulted. It certainly would have been an interesting adventure.
