The deeper I get in this series, the more I'm enjoying it! Definitely a grows-on-you situation over here, especially because, with time, it is easier to follow the characters, their histories, and the magic system. I'm anxious to continue reading now!

I picked this up as part of my quest to read the Throne of Glass series this year.
“Heir of Fire” takes Celaena on a new and even more daunting task: she must go to a new land and discover who she truly is. Celaena feels like her world is crumbling around her, and she has no one left on her side. What is the point to keep fighting when everything she cares about she loses?
This book took me a long time to get into and it took me an even longer time to get through. I really want to like this series more than I am, but I am struggling to be as invested as I was in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. What keeps me moving forward, and what motivates me to pick up the next book is the endings. There is always some crazy cliffhanger or a glimmer of hope and I just want to see Celaena succeed.
I continue to enjoy Celaena as a character. She is a badass, strong woman who is determined to make the world right. When she sets her mind to something she is going to see it through and be successful. It would be so easy for her to just give up after everything she has been through.
I really enjoyed Celaena’s and Chaol’s dynamic. He was a great contrast and push to continue to develop Celaena as a strong female lead. Additionally, the other friendships highlighted in this book were heartwarming and something to aspire for.
I am intrigued to continue and pick up the next book, and I am hopeful to become more invested!

Excruciatingly boring, pov kept changing to different stories in the book, had characters suddenly shoved in that I didn't know enough to care about. Had a hard time finishing

Re-read. Things are picking up in the story and we get to come along as our FMC begins laying the groundwork to keep her promises. After a certain point...maybe just after halfway...everything is falling into place and escalating to where I could not stop reading.

This was my second time reading through. I think this might be my favorite book in the series. Maybe the next one. While I loved it all, I really was just waiting for Aelin chapters whenever it wasn’t focused on her.
