Stick to Catch 22. It’s it’s got more of Major Major and is much funnier

Old, jaded men (even a dead one) summarizing their lives between the end of Catch 22 and then. Takes a million years to find a plot to action on and meanwhile I'm stuck as a reader trying to like clusters of male characters each with torrents of nonredeemable qualities and perverse annotations about women. It ages very poorly.
Pro, is that he's good with his characterizations and world anecdotes, but it's generally an uncomfortable and arduous read.

I'm conflicted on how I feel about this book. There's not much of a plot, and I was confused about what was happening at various parts. I think overall I was able to grasp the main events that happened throughout, but it was quite confusing at the time. Plus it just kind of ends with no conclusion. There may or may not be a war with missiles/bombs but we're just going to ignore that and end the book. Then there was the part about the 4 thousand pounds of caviar. That has got to be some severe overfishing going on right there! At the same time though I enjoyed reading it. I probably could have given this 3 stars but went with 4 just because I didn't struggle through the whole thing it was actually enjoyable. So let's say it's 3.5 stars and call it a day.

This book is not wroth a second of your time. The only good part about this book was it made me appreciate Catch-22 much more. All the characters from that book are boiled down and stripped to their most basic components in this follow up. Writing this review is probably putting too much effort into the book and its still twice the effort Joseph Heller put into Closing time. if you liked Catch-22 you will dislike this book, and if you didn’t like Catch-22 you will hate it.

I have 2 favourite books with a special place in my heart. One is Catch22. I was so looking forward to this sequel but also afraid to read it in case it was disappointing. And unfortunately my fear was realized. I was bored for a big part if it.
