A collection of sweet children’s tales, several centered around the park. Pleasant to listen to, but not as good as the first Mary Poppins book. Michael’s tale with the cat kingdom was the weirdest and my favorite.

I enjoyed the narrator and the writing and story-telling. Book Mary Poppins is not AS benevolent, young, and whimsical as the movie MP. She's much more strict and blunt and older. Also she weirdly gaslights the children but also involves them in wonderful adventures to teach them lessons.
This book felt like more short stories loosely connected. The last story 'Halloween' feels similar to Peter Pan, but takes off and tells a silly wondering enjoyable story.
Sadly, It has dated references and word choices to Einy, Meeny, Miny, Moe. The rest of that old racist children's rhyme is the begining focus on one of the chapters that takes off in an entirely different direction, but mentions the rhyme multiple times. It's hard reading passage of something I now recognize as wrong and racist, even if "how it was" "back in the day". But it's short and not a main focus, and overall the writing is so smooth and easy and flows well. I don't know if recommend it, but I am interested in reading all the Mary Poppins books and this one was better than the previous book.

Mary Poppins is always a delight! I especially liked the shadows on Hallowe'en.
