Carissa Broadbent is becoming one of my favorite authors very fast. She will intrigue you and then hook you into her stories very fast. In Six Scorched Roses we have a FMC who is trying to cure her people that were cursed by their god. She thinks that the trick to curing her people lie within what their god hates most. Vampires, the children of Nyaxia. Vale is a vampire that is just trying to live his life. Away from his people he is propositioned by Lilith. For six months she will bring him a rose when she comes to collect his blood. Will she find a cure?

I was originally going to skip this and come back to it after starting The Ashes and the Star Cursed King. But after reading a few chapters while waiting for the release of Ashes, that night, I figured it would be better to finish this first. I have a feeling that while this book is written to be a standalone in the Nyaxia series that I will be seeing these characters again. I am so happy I did. This now has made me even more excited to get to Ashes. I highly recommend reading this in pubication order and reading this before Ashes. It will help you understand a little bit more of the world if anything!

Thank god that was short cuz it was pretty terrible. She’s a sickly human who meets a vampire. Some stupid things happen and he ends up turning her in the end. They’re together and go to obittaus (place for vampires) in the end.

sweet but wished it was longer. i feel like the reason for the attraction between the two MC could be explored more. not as good as the two main books of the series but a nice quick read nonetheless

I want more! I can’t believe this was just a novella. It felt like so much happened and you didn’t miss a beat yet it was a sort read. Love this world.
