This was originally published in 2005 and I'm afraid it doesn't hold up so well 15 years after the fact. Vaughn's world of werewolves and vampires is pretty standard - there's not a lot of creativity here. In fact, one of the few differences is also something that bothers me a great deal. The alpha werewolf is free to mate with any pack members he wishes and they don't really have a say in it. I don't like that Vaughn included that in part of her werewolf lore. It's abuse.

Also, the male and female alphas live as 'mates' but aren't actually so. Anyone in the pack can challenge one of them and join up with the other alpha as their new mate. That made me sad because one of my favorite things about so many werewolf stories is the idea of a true mate.

But the thing that bothered me the most was how Kitty acted on her radio show. She was condescending and dismissive. Part of it was how the narrator handled it (badly) and part was how Kitty's character was written. She had to have the last word every time she talked with someone and ended up sounding curt and patronizing. It was not at all likeable.

A good first novel - I enjoyed reading a werewolf book that actually takes inspiration from wolf packs. While Kitty's position as bottom of the pack is uncomfortable to read about occasionally, it makes the whole werewolf thing seem much more real.

Kitty keeps her identity as a werewolf secret, but this gets harder as her radio show about all things supernatural becomes more popular. Eventually, Kitty needs make a decision about her role in the pack, and whether she's able to go beyond it.

A little scatty in places, but it's a first book - I really liked Kitty so I'll be checking out the rest of the series.

Kitty is a fun character and is a character I would put in the light reading category. Will I read another Kitty book? Yes, I definitely plan on it. This book has so many things going for it and I think as a series it can only grow with Kitty. Kitty finds her strength as a woman and in doing so loses some things as a result, some things she thought were important and some things that were important.

As Kitty's popularity and strength grew so did her confidence. The treatment of Vampire, Werewolves, and Weretigers(?)was different than I have ever seen them in a book. It was kind of funny actually. I stayed awake pretty late reading it and I would do it again. I look forward to following Kitty's growth as a character.

I would almost put the book in the mystery genre. And I am not sure I am going to let my girls read it quite yet.

The first in a series of werewolves and vampires (and other preternatural critters perhaps?) Kitty is a character with a very amusing personality. I can't wait to see where the series goes after this one.

I wasn't sure if this was a good I would like... even though it was my second time through. Sometimes my taste just really changes.

Kitty is great and I love reading her life. You see her struggles and she tries to get through them. She definitely has character development and I'm excited to see how far she will go. I'm sad about some events :( and I hope there is become permanent cast members besides Kitty and not just Matt or Ozzie who are really just background characters.

I don't like how the Alpha acts in this book... this isn't the mating for life thing because, as cool as that sounds, but just taking advantage... taking what you want from pack members BECAUSE you're Alpha... I hope we get to see more Alphas later.... I hope they are nicer.

The radio host aspect is really awesome and I enjoyed it.

As for it being an audiobook, the narrator's voice took some getting used to but, sometimes that happens with new books. Kitty's voice made her sound mature and so done with everyone's shit. I loved it. It really fit personality.

So, yeah. Hopefully I'll finally get to the sequel this time.
