Crown Princess Talty is the modern woman capable of ruling a kingdom or running a pirate ship, yet concerned with her young son, and married to a man who would die for her. She's brave, she's cunning, she thinks for herself, and she is a leader, preparing for her role as Queen Regnant.

Twisted as a Celtic knot, McDermott weaves together an alternate Earth landscape with Irish royalty, advanced technology, alien intrigue and a few pirates, not to mention the ghost. Relationships complicate the political situation when the Lady Princess is kidnapped.

Salty Roses stands on its own, even though it is the third book of Pat McDermott's Band of Roses series. It makes you want to read the others just to find out more about the ensemble cast. I was given a copy of this book to review, and I loved it.
