It doesn't take much to make me an emotional mess, but animal + friendship = *sobs.*

This beautiful short picture book follows Charlie and Jack, both of whom reside at Open Ranch (which sounds more like a sanctuary). They help each other and create a friendship that ultimately helps repair past traumas.

Truly a lovely story, and I don't want to share more as it's so.dang.sweet.

This story brought tears to my eyes, who doesn't love a story of friendship or of underdogs, and this book has both!

This book is an absolutely precious story that challenges our nature to judge people by their cover. The friendship that blossoms is adorable and will be a favorite of mine for sure! Adding it to our “to purchase” list of books which we reserve for only our five star reads!

Oh my, if this story doesn't move you, I'm pretty sure you don't have a heart! So sweet.

I'm a mess of tears finishing this one. It is a beautiful, heartwarming story of the slow way friendship can develop and the ways trauma can impact our reactions and ways we support others. I need a hug after reading this book.

What a heartwarming story about two unlikely friends, Jack the goat, and Charlie the horse. It shows us the ups and downs of friendship from the point of view of two animals struggling with different problems while they are living at an animal sanctuary. Loved it, and highly recommend.

I cried. I could relate to Jack, being trapped in fear from the past memory that holding him down from being happy and free. Meanwhile, Charlie was physically blind but seeing life positively with his heart. Eventually they became friend and support each other to grow and heal. Beautiful friendship. Beautiful book.
