I think I expected this book to be more of a mystery due to the nature of Christie's own work, but I felt a large amount of it was pretty straightforward. It felt a little odd, a straightforward account about a disappearance, and it made the very interesting life of Agatha Christie a sort of backdrop to our fictional Nan O'Dea. I know that it is historical fiction, but it certainly felt much more like fiction. I enjoyed the parts about Nan's backstory the most, and almost wish the whole story had been focused on her in entirety. It did keep my attention and I sped right through it though!

I really like the complexity of this book - lots of shifts in perspective.  And at some level… the women here are really striving to find lives that work best for them and no one else.  Despite their hardship and circumstances.

I found this book a bit difficult to get through. Slow at times and sometimes difficult to follow the story. Great concept, though!

So this was not what I was expecting. It started slow and cluttered to me but I’m glad I stuck with it. It ended up coming together nicely. I love Agatha Christie so much, and though this wasn’t so much about her, it was an interesting invention of what happened during her actual disappearance, which I didn’t know about until I read this book.
