Go follow Nala and Dean on Instagram: 1bike1world

While I knew a lot of their story, I really did enjoy reading about what Dean didn't share on Instagram. What I love in particular is just his undeniable adoration of Nala. I love it when animals are treated with such respect as they have played such a huge part in my life, and Dean has nothing but that for this little girl whose life he saved.

4.5 stars. Great travel story. Loved the relationship that grew between Nala and her owner, and author, Dean. I appreciated how the author didn’t over share his life issues- didn’t play a martyr either. Amazing story and if you love travel, cats/animals and/or bike riding I highly recommend this read.

Sweet story - perfect for small and charming bites in Instagram or on You Tube. A little slim for a book.

I just adored and loved this book, and I didn't want to end! It was heart-warming, uplifting, funny, exciting, scary at times, and of course, entertaining. Dean made building relationships and bridges between people, cultures, and between humans and our fellow animals the central theme of his book, as that is how he has experienced his journey with Nala.
I highly recommend it to just about anyone who loves animals, as well as people who have
adventuring and/or global wanderlust goals.
You can check out the video blogs of their trip on their 1Bike1WorldYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@1bike1world/videos. I would say from the first video, Santorini to Quarantined Cat Cam - Nala covers what was in this book.
It's a good one folks. Enjoy!

Part-memoir, part-travel log, part-animal and environmental activism, and entirely wholesome.

I loved everything about this book, and I hope Dean and Nala continue with their journey across the world. I look forward to reading all about it one day!

Dean did a great job telling his story with Nala. Sometimes I felt as if I were right there with them. I wonder though, if maybe the story was written too soon seeing as they have much more traveling to do and have not even made it halfway around the world yet. I will definitely be following their travels through social media from now on. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good nonfiction read. Book 17 in 2020

Dean Nicholson set out on a biking trip with a friend, with the goal to bike around the world. After the friend turned back, Dean continued on and when he was between Montenegro and Bosnia he heard a small meow from the side of the road. The rest, as they say, is history - he nursed her back to health, named her Nala, and continued to care for her while also travelling Europe on bike. They continue to travel together, with their activities being documented on Dean's Instagram page.

This is a 5 star for me because I have been following Dean and Nala for a couple years. I loved this book so much because it not only gave me more insight to their backstory, but also the things Dean did and the people he met before meeting Nala. Their connection is powerful and they are certainly soulmates.
