Loved this collection. Full of nature, life, death (be kind to yourself if you’ve lost a love one, a mom, when reading that section), being a daughter and a mother and a woman. So many beautiful verses and vivid imagery. Already recommended it to a few friends and think so many people would enjoy it.

"Consider the direction of your grace."

It is quite difficult to not include an entire poem as the pull quote. I checked this new collection out from the library and have read it three times this week. Friends, when I say I savored these poems, I mean I wanted to print them out and eat them with bright green vegetables: they are so hearty and heartbreaking and pointed and filling. Kingsolver reflects on so much, but the final section on the earth was too large for my heart to hold one reading of-- it's the section I've read the most. I posted some excerpts in my stories, but the piece on the burning of Notre Dame / the coral reefs-- oof. Everyone should read this soon; so grateful for these words!

Though I adore Kingsolver's novels I am not as moved by her poems. I kept wanting a little bit more from each one. Or maybe my mood right now---anxious and worried about the upcoming election---does not jive well with this collection. I own it so I will try it again in a few years and see if I still agree with my current estimation of it.
