Yes, I did cry at the end. Thank you very much.

Encouraging middle grade novel about not letting your past define you.

Fun story, but fortunately today he wouldn’t have to move schools just across town and ditch all his friends.

I read this book at the request of my ten-year-old son. He really loves sports and so I’m not surprised that he fell in love with the games and practice portions of the story. It was really sad though. I feel my childhood wasn’t the cushiest, but I can’t imagine the scenes described for Jayson. If you have a sports lover at your house, your child might really enjoy this story.

I like Mike Lupica's books, but this one feels like he is writing an 17-year-old story about a 12-year-old boy. (which is OK because we really need more good high school sports fiction).

Some parts were a little slow and overall, mostly predictable.

The ending was a little abrupt for me, but the story over all was a decently strong story.
