Watched the drama series adaptation last year and wanted to read the original material. Very informative on obgyn procedures and complications, the gruelling schedule of NHS junior doctors, and the government's callous campaign against said doctors. However, the unwarranted misogyny and fatphobia (among the MANY other disparaging remarks) was really off-putting and just unnecessarily cruel especially since these women were going through some of the most challenging and painful experiences of their lives.

I'm just inherently not interested in this topic, I read this for bookclub and I've avoided it prior to this as it's just not a particularly interesting subject to me.

It was amusing in parts but in others i just found myself skipping over, it didn't really add much to my overall understanding of NHS life, but i also have a few friends who work within the underfunded institution so I am fairly aware of the pitfalls and horrific working conditions.

I also felt the tone was a bit off in parts, and he came off a bit smug in others.

Just not for me.
