Wanderlust continues where [book:Grimspace|1828067] stopped, but in very different tone. In the end I am left with the feeling that this book was a little lost.

+ World building has settled down and is no more overwhelming.
+- Not sure what is happening with romance.
- We visit old planets, but there are no fascinating new landscapes or species that caught my attention.
- Jax is less kick-ass and more fragile.
- Some of my favorite quirky side characters are not there, or have less focus.

I'm not sure if Wanderlust is calm before a storm or a new direction for this series. I guess I will have to read the next book to find out. (But I am not giving up on Sirantha just yet.)

I am really liking this series so far & can't wait to read book 3. While I still whipped through this book, it was not as engrossing as #1. It quite literally is a transitional book, Jax has survived the fall of the Corp, but now has a new role that she is trying to wrap her head around. I always find such transitions a bit frustrating, but understand the necessity. It's done well here and I think that it's handled in a realistic manner for Jax's personality. Everything is very "1 step forward, 2 steps back". She continues to be a broken person who still has a lot to work through emotionally. I'm looking forward to reading more & continuing to root for her character as she continues to open up more to the rag-tag support system that her crew is becoming.

I have a severe crush on Sirantha Jax and her band of 'misfits'. Each character brings something big to the story and her relationship with March underpins it all perfectly.

I didn't love Wanderlust quite as much as I loved Grimspace. I felt like it was a much more depressing story, Jax spends at least 80% of the book moping around feeling sorry for herself. Granted there are some darker things going on in this book, but still. Pull up your bootstraps, carry on.

I listened to the audiobook of Wanderlust and it was pretty poor. I couldn't connect her voice with the image of Jax that I had in my head and I think that she was a little over the top with the drama which probably lead to most of my frustration over Jax being whiny in this book.

Definitely some interesting plot twists for the overarching story and I'm definitely still in for the long haul with this series.

Wanderlust confused me a bit - it felt a little scattered. Almost peripatetic-like. I was also not happy with the absence of March throughout much of the book. But, I loved getting to know Jael, Dina and Vel more. And 245 reminds me of Data - I can't wait to see where Ann Aguirre goes with her!

Sci-fi up! We’re going to the future!

Even though the beginning wasn’t as flashy as Grimspace, Wanderlust was another thrilling adventure for me. I may be totally biased about this series though. One can never know…

One of the best things about this series is the almost perfect way I can relate to Jax. Yes, of course she’s way cooler than me (duh) and she lives in the future and goes into space and is badass but at least I get consoled personality wise.

I don’t have to say that March was a major dickhead for what he did to Jax. Vel ended up being her right hand when March should have been the one. Call me a hopeless romantic but I see relationships working like that.

We had also a newcomer. Nah, scratch that. Two newcomers who were relevant. Jael and Hit. Both of them were amazing but the one who impressed me the most was Jael. I couldn’t get enough of him and I can’t wait to learn more of his secrets!

I can’t help of thinking of Mass Effect when reading this series. Hell it’s the only time I was in charge of a team and had my own off-world expeditions. Some situations were similar in the game. Since I’m a passionate gamer I got attached to my team and my ship, the Normandy (I have to show you a picture to show off with it).

That’s another reason why I’m going to give this book such a good score.

There is also a reason why I consider Vel my favorite character. What’s the reason you ask? Well in my Mass Effect team Garrus was my "second in command". He had my back in many missions and bit by bit he became dear to me. As you can guess I see Vel as my Garrus. Well Garrus is an ugly sonovabitch but you get my point.

And no, I won’t stop with my Mass Effect stories.

Ah well, something relevant about the story and no more rambling? Awesome story read the damn book!

3.5 stars. The writing in this book improved significantly from Grimspace, which made it a much more enjoyable read. Big events still happened a little quickly for my taste, but there was much more time taken to develop the story and characters. I'm going to continue on to the third book but so far I'm not totally in love with this series enough to keep spending my money, so, we'll see.

So far so good.  I liked Grimspace and I still like Wanderlust.  So I hope I'll like the next one as well.
