I listened to this on audio.

It’s in 3rd person POV. It isn’t really a romance. More fiction than anything else. The Villain’s POV was my favorite and the who done it story was interesting. However, I felt this story was too long to not end in an HEA. Spoiler but this ends on a cliffhanger and I didn’t know that beforehand.

This… is genuinely one of my favorite reads of 2023. Which I did not see coming AT ALL.

I expected the book to be overly trope-y and cliche and really only bought it in the first place because the sprayed edges were really nice, so nothing could’ve prepared me for HOW MUCH I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK.

It’s like, all the things you WANT to happen when you read a romance book but they never actually happen, the things you can usually only daydream about or find in fanfiction… they all HAPPEN in this book. Every time I found myself thinking “man I’d love it if they did this,” they DID IT.

Genuinely I don’t know if I’ve had this much fun or spent this much time giggling and kicking my feet on any of my other books this year. This is a new favorite, for sure.

The romance is so swoony, but there’s also such a good found family dynamic in there, too. Plus, I adored all the characters. Evie and Trystan are both layered and complex and multi-dimensional, and I really enjoyed both of their POVs and both of their arcs as characters. Trystan is everything I look for in my complex, hot villain characters, and Evie is so adorable and terrifying at the same time. I love them both. I enjoyed the side characters a lot, too!

Anyway, I’m just sad I read this book so soon after it came out so now I have to wait longer for the next book, after THAT ending. I need more, and I need it asap.

10/10, most fun read in a while. I cannot recommend it enough!
