I don't know where they found Jacob Dudman, but I'm very grateful. He is suberb as #12 and the story was excellent!

As much as I would’ve liked Peter Capaldi to be reprising his role, the accent and voice was spot on. I can totally imagine the Twelfth Doctor saying those things!

weeee my first short trip

it was alright and i didn't hate the twelve impression as much as i thought i would?? so that was nice. the story was pretty basic and had a good premise but it wasn't hugely engageing. i think it'll take me a few short trips to get used to the audiobook-style format but i definitely enjoyed it woo

This is the most recent winner of the Big Finish Writing Challenge...and it's a great short story.

Jacob Dudman does a passible (yet somehow appropriate) impersonation of the Twelfth Doctor in a clever, punchy story.

And the best part is....this is free for download from Big Finish.

Go listen. Now.

The Best Laid Plans is a Doctor adjacent story where 12 makes a few appearances but isn’t the primary character. I think this plays very well, it’s well produced and interesting.

Dracksil Forg sells ideas to fund his upper crust lifestyle. Only now as his taste has gotten more expensive his clients have become more dangerous. Dictators, conquerors, killers. His operation is interrupted by a man going by the Doctor over and over.

That’s the basic premise and it goes farther in clever ways. Really I think this is very well written as Dracksil Forg gets his complete character arc in this story.

So it’s good and free, you’ve no reason to not check it out. I will note that 12 is not performed by Capaldi here but by Jacob Dudman who does a good impression. The writing is stellar from Ben Tedds and Richard Fox’s sounds design and music drew me in. This is a good adventure, it isn’t a blockbuster and it shouldn’t be because it’s clever and satisfying.

5 stars.
