An enjoyable page turner well written with some good twists and turns, the suspense is handled well and the story keeps you guessing until the end. The characters are believable and the gory bits are detailed and vivid.

I finished this book less than a week ago...and I can't remember much. I guess it didn't make that big of an impression on me.
I grabbed the book because it is the inspiration for Rizzoli and Isles. Not the best tv show, but I've had it on in the background as I clean/grade....and I wanted to see if the book was better.

Eh. Not much. There was no Isles in the book...apparently they meet in a later book. This book was about a guy that cuts the uterus out of a woman while she is awake...and then kills her. I don't know why I read the book---as a couple of times it kept me awake. Don't take this as proof that the book is scary...just take this fact as proof that I am a MAJOR wimp when reading thrillers.

I was not surprised by the outcome, but it was not completely expected.

Nothing made it stick out from the other drug store thrillers....so grab it, if it is free.

When I say you will be checking your windows, I'm not joking around. It's seriously scary how easily someone can break into your home when you're at your most vulnerable.

If you have a weak stomach when it comes to organs, blood and sadistic surgeries, then this may not be the right book for you. It was definitely difficult to read about the killers MO and how he would keep his victim awake and aware throughout the entire surgery. That alone would break the strongest person. How someone can be so twisted is beyond me.

I read this book after being introduced to The Bone Garden by the same author. While this book is stunningly detailed and the hunt for the murderer is very heart-pounding, personally I prefer her historical mysteries.

I really enjoyed this! It was like a Criminal Minds episode, mixed with ER, and there was even a dash of romance and a hint of spice, which I was not expecting and was pleasantly surprised by. I found myself wishing that Catherine felt more for Peter, but alas, it did not come true.

The way this was written seemed very well researched both in terms of the medical and police procedures. Granted, I know nothing about either field, but I appreciated how detailed it was.

This book dealt with the heavy topics of rape and sexual assault and I thought the author did a very good job portraying the gruesomeness of those crimes and well as the mental and emotional trauma the victims experience afterwards. It’s heartbreaking.
