No notes, absolutely no notes for this incredible debut novel from Julie Soto. If this is what she delivers as her first novel, I don't think we are ready for what comes next!!

We meet Ama, a fiercely independent wedding planner who lands what could be the most significant wedding of her career. The twist? She'll have to work alongside her ex, Elliot, who's the florist. This romantic rollercoaster unfolds through alternating dual timelines (with the past from Elliot's PIV and the present from Ama's), providing the readers a comprehensive view of their relationship from its inception to the present day. I have a deep appreciation for narratives with multiple points of view, and the dual timeline structure is like the icing on the cake, especially in second chance romances. It offers an immersive dive into the characters' lives. Ama and Elliot are characters you'll swiftly fall in love with, and I can guarantee that you'll become enamored with their story.

While both Ama and Elliot are well-written and intriguing, it was Elliot who captured my heart. This is the quintessential grumpy meets sunshine romance, and Elliot embodies what I wish all "grumpy" characters were like. He isn't unlikable or mean; he simply possesses a personality that not everyone understands. He's an introvert who wears his heart on his sleeve, demonstrating unwavering loyalty and passion in his pursuits. What's truly refreshing is his willingness to be vulnerable and emotional, challenging the stereotype of male characters in romance.

The romance in this book is a deliciously angsty slow burn that keeps you eagerly flipping pages, despite the frustration it may induce. I found myself on the edge of my seat, just desperately needing to know what would happen between Ama and Elliot. The witty banter sprinkled throughout adds a delightful touch, making the characters even more endearing with their dry humor and self-deprecation.

There's something undeniably unique and refreshing about this book. Julie Soto has crafted a story that stands out from the rest, offering a breath of fresh air in the world of romance. After reading this captivating book, I'm now a forever fan of Julie Soto and eagerly anticipate what she comes out with next!!

This was such a delight! I really loved both the main characters and the dual timelines. The conflict in the past that was led up to was extremely obvious, but understandable. My only complaints are that I wish we had seen more pining for each other in the present storyline, and I personally do not care about weddings, so the overall plot did not interest me much. I would love more books in this universe, especially since Ama has about a million step siblings.

Really enjoyed this! I got sucked into the story. It’s a bit cheesy and romcom-y but not overly so. Some good humor, good spice. I liked the writing style a lot. I really liked the two POVs and different timelines. This was sweet and overall a really nice read. Can’t wait for more from the author!

I love a grumpy MMC, but this one had so few redeeming qualities that even I could not see the appeal. He was just rude and boring.

Cute open-door romance, def giving Tessa Bailey vibes "I wanna love the things you love, even if they're extinct"
