I enjoyed this, but not as much as Margo's book.

Surprisingly, it wasn't the age gap that bothered me like I thought it would, but rather the hero's hot-cold 'I am not worthy' routine that got a bit old. Buuut he was secretly very sweet to both Matilda and his sister, so... I liked him in the end. There wasn't as much BDSM activity as I expected based on the hints in the previous novella but it was still very hot.

I also wish the twins had had some sort of on-page reconciliation. I'm assuming that they did, at some point in the future, but the story ends quite abruptly and there is no epilogue.

We're 4 weeks into the year and this might be the best thing I'll read for the remaining 48 weeks, at minimum.

Seriously, if you love steamy & spicy historical romances... run, don't walk, RUN to sign up for Alexandra Vasti's newsletter and treat-yo-self to her two free Halifax Hellion novellas. And then come join me in the torturous wait for her debut novel with St. Martin's in 2024. 😭

Matilda's story includes a delicious age gap romance with a bearded, grumpy Marquess and a shared penchant for BDSM elements such as restraints and pain in the bedchamber. And so much heart! You can really feel the depth of character in both Matilda and Christian ooze off the page so quickly and easily.

How do I read this for the first time again?? It was THAT good. I can barely form a coherent review.

The opening two chapters are hilarious.
