non so cosa ho appena letto, ma è stato… intenso???
non guarderò mai più un pelapatate o un crocifisso come prima.

“It’s not that I felt empty. I think all of us feel empty most of the time and we merely pretend to fill the vacuum with laughter, crying, apologies - anything human”
🥩 I know, what a bizarre emoji for a book review, but trust me on this.
Read this in an hour cause it’s a novella, so essentially around 120 pages. Would have taken me less time if I wasn’t just swearing or rereading to make sure I was reading what I am.
Not going to lie, the author got me there. I read the introduction and had to push back the urge to go look this ‘case’ up, but wait, scratch that, maybe forget what I just said.
The plot escalated way too fast, but because the book is in the format of emails and Instant Messaging (remember IM back then? Oh the nostalgia) so it’s very easy to read through.
Not forgetting these for a while.
Funny thing, there ARE people like Zoe in real life, with an extreme form of possessiveness and of course there are so many Agnes’s out there it scares me.
As for the whole, there has to be more, there is no way that is going to be that easy, maybe the beef was the punishment?
Idk, but whatever it was, this was a #wtf read but one I want Eric to write an extended version of, maybe 500 pages.

There were 3 WELL DETAILED gory or intense scenes; Salamander, Little Christ and of course the raw steak 👀.Funny thing, there ARE people like Zoe in real life, with an extreme form of possessiveness and of course there are so many Agnes’s out there it scares me.

wtf was that ending... I think this book definitely needed to be longer.
There wasn't really any reason for either of their actions, it needed more substance but I guess you can't get it with the writing style they choose to write the story in.
This was such wasted potential to explore this kind of manipulation and deep dive into the psychology behind it. Like dig into why she wanted her to sleep naked with the AC on blast because where did that come from? how does that even come to someone’s mind? yk what i’m saying

This was actually disgusting, dark, twisted, and so fast that every sentence had to push the narrative along. I read it in about an hour, maybe less at 2am when I couldn't sleep, and I feel this is best consumed in one go, similar to how the writer wrote this piece in such a short burst.
The pacing threw me off a little, as it starts out quite slow, but once it starts going, it doesn't stop.
Don't be like me and think that people are exaggerating how disgusting this is. They aren't. Unless you watch grotesque horror on the daily, you will have some sort of reaction to this book.

I love books that take place entirely on the Internet, by message. The psychological downward spiral of the characters is very interesting. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the audiobook though. The narrator is good, but hearing the email addresses and subjects repeated over and over again slightly made me want to claw my eyes out
