This is a review for the entire duet

This was okay. Book one was an incredibly slow burn and ended abruptly. Book two kind of felt all over the place and the FMC was overwhelmingly whiny for my taste. It felt odd in book 2 that the whole intent of going far far away was to keep Calista safe or until Hayden felt so, but once it was discovered Harper was hurt (that seemed intentional?) and Calista said she’d forgiven him(?) then they went back immediately?????! Then the whole connection with the drug company and side deals with her dad and the company owner it just seemed a bit rushed and reaching and still a little loose as to why Hayden unalived her father in the first place.

Overall this duet could’ve easily been one book with two parts, with some pieces cut out, and some others more elaborated on. The spice was 2/5. I wouldn’t compare this to the infamous cat and mouse duet if that’s what you’re looking for.

The only reason why I even read the second book was because I wanted to see who was the one that killed Hayden's mother. I'm not sure how this book can get EVEN WORSE from the previous one, but this author did it. It was the most unsatisfying revenge arc, the worst chemistry between "lovers", and Hayden ticks all the boxes of each type of abuse known to man. I wish I never read it and wasted my time. This book fits PERFECTLY in my "burn it" shelf.

If you love yourself, if you are sane, if you actually like reading something of substance, please skip this series entirely. Goodreads doesn't have this option, but if I had to rate this book I would give it a 0.00 stars. DON'T READ THIS BOOK!!!

Huh.
Underwhelming, I think?
I mean I still enjoyed this book, I think it was a light read even though Hayden was quite…aggressive and..a lot. But I still enjoyed it. Callie gave in a little too easily for me but I don’t blame her, she fell in love with a mad man, and in the process, I think she had kinda developed a taste for this mad man of hers. Hayden’s personality was solely..obsessive. Because apart from that, he had nothing else. He breathed and lived for Callie and that’s it. (And while we can all agree that that’s called a no depth, no personality character, I found myself quite literally enjoying his obsession..)

But then the plot. I was expecting a little bit more, to be honest. And I swear I didn’t expect a lot. But it was too easy, too shallow than it was supposed to be, given how serious everything seemed to be. The writer didn’t even bother telling us how Hayden got away with every single illegal shits he had done. I mean I get it, he had money and influence and stuff, but surely, surely he shouldn’t have that much power..right? I mean I know he was smart and stuff but really? Really?

Eh, anyway. I enjoyed it, so
