It's always a bit strange when you start a new series... having to learn about new characters and their environment. Also in this case I was a bit confused as to what time this was happening, as much of it seemed like it could be any time in the 70s 80s or 90s - oddly little technology, but then at some point a DNA analysis and some other tech revealed that it was actually current events. A bit strange really. Even the DCIs marriage had a bit of a 50s feel to it.
But it was good enough to keep reading the next ones...

DCI Lorimer is like a dog with a bone. He is very keen to find the killer of the three young woman but it’s proving difficult with little evidence. His Superintendent has told him to work a psychologist from Glasgow University to understand and profile the killer, to which DCI Lorimer is not impressed and feels is a waste of time.

As the story unfolds DCI Lorimer and Dr Brightman work together to find the killer. With them both agreeing on the theory around the killings and the profile of the killer can they catch the St Mungo Murderer before they strike again.

It took me a while to get into it and I wouldn’t say it was a page turner until the last few chapters. However, I will pick up the next book in the series ‘A Small Weeping’.

An excellent who-done-it investigated by Inspector Lorimer. Scottish murder series. This time, I listened to the audiobook which came out much later than the others.

Started out slow and got slower. Persevered till the end when I realised I shouldn't have bothered. Characters were weak and you just didn't care about them the further you got in.
