Darkly tantalising

I did really enjoy this opening to the Sinister Fairytales collection and has me intrigued for what's coming next.

What started out as a relatively light story quickly turned darker and darker until it had me reeling with revelations, twists and turns. To say I'm not a little in love with Callan would be a lie

Not at all what I was expecting

I was looking for a Peter Pan and Wendy type romance with all the smut... this came across the recommendations I received and I was intrigued. What I got was such an interesting and totally unexpected story. Hook and Tink, vampires, witches, sirens, magic, and so much more.

I was told it was dark, I found it to be sweet and a touch twisted.

All in all it was an good read, entertaining.

A delectable, unputdownable adventure.

Oh. My. God. This is the version of Peter Pan I’ve always wanted. I’ve always had a thing for characters like Callan. This book delivered on darkness, searing-hot to outright scorching love scenes, adventure, suspense, and drama. I literally couldn’t put this down until I finished it. It is 5:30 in the morning, I am absolutely wrecked, and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I’d like to thank Enticing Journey for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. So let’s start with the first thing this cover is absolutely beautiful I am blown away by how much I love this cover. Even more so I really loved the chapter art, the whole design of this book just blew me away.

The description itself is insanely intriguing. So this is a dark adult fairytale fantasy retelling about you guessed it Hook, Tink and Pan. It’s dark and twisted and I love it. This is the retelling that you didn’t know you needed. I really didn’t know I needed this until I read it, and I’m glad I did.

I have to admit from the first time we are introduced to Captain Hook I was hooked. His character was so intriguing and mysterious I also loved that we saw the more sensitive side of him when it came to how he felt about Tink but also that we got to see him in charge and leading. I liked the added aspect of him being a vampire and that instead of being the villain he was the hero so to speak.

Tinksley she is half fae and she really doesn’t want to be, she fights against every part of her fathers’ side. She starts off being very naive in her relationship with Peter especially until the party where Hook points out that he’s not that great to her. Tinksley makes a massive amount of character development in this book from when she’s with Peter and he then he left her to entering a massive depressiveness until her mother forces her to get out of bed. She tried to commit suicide and we go through a series of changes in Tinksley’s character from where she believes that she needs to die to having fight in her. I loved that change from the naive to the depressed to the fighter. The fighter part of Tinksley was my favourite side of her but also her relationship with Hook, I liked the teasing side of her that we got to see her.

I really enjoyed that we got to see multiple point of views from Hook, Tinksley and Peter. It was especially good being in Hook’s point of view I just found him a really interesting character. I think another thing was that I liked instead of Hook being the villain he is the hero and that it’s Pan that’s the villain. I love that for Tink in her story Peter is the villain and Hook is the hero.

Pan was an interesting character seeing him being the villain where he kills and there’s another reason for him immortality. I like that the author managed a little appearance from Wendy no matter how dark it may have been. Tinksley got her justice on Peter Pan. A really really dark justice and damn it was good! Pan was a very disgusting manipulative person especially doing what he did to Tink when he knew what they were. (Me trying to avoid spoilers.)

Tink and Hook’s relationship holy hot damn it was hot. The sexual tension was off the charts. The sex between them was very slow burn and insanely hot, the way that Hook just wanted to devour Tink and the way she wanted to be devoured. I think all I could have wanted was to see them more as a couple but I liked what we got. The way he was tearing his own heart apart trying to give Tink what she wanted. I loved their relationship I could read so much more of it.

Tink’s parents were interesting, her mum was always there as mums are. I liked that she was present for a certain amount of time in this book when Peter was around and when Peter broke her heart she was there. I also liked when Tink saw her mum after transitioning the little moment they had it was so sweet.

Tink’s dad the fae lord I feel very mixed about his character because he brought Peter into Ravenwood as punishment but he also didn’t think it through when it came to his daughter. I do have to admit when they find out that Hook has Tink both him and Tink’s mum do go and try and see her but he just wasn’t there. If you’ve read this book you’ll see why I’m conflicted.

I really enjoyed this book and it was a brilliant start to the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection. I cannot wait for the next story which is Cold Queen by K Webster and I cannot wait for it! This story kept me hooked and I couldn’t put it down, I love Tink and Hook and I loved the story.

You’re going to want to put your idea of fairy tale away for this dark story that is Venom.

At first I struggled to get into this story, because the story of Peter Pan is so fun for me. But what Dee Garcia did with this tale hit every single of one of my dark desires.

This story follows Tinksley (tinkerbelle) and her act of rebellion, that goes further than she ever could have imagined.

A lot of the main characters are in there- Hook, Tink, Pan, Tigerlily etc.

I am beyond excited for the rest of this series, Venom was the perfect mashup for me- the dark twisting of fairly tales- the perfect fit to my weird little soul.

100% recommended this book! Kudos to Dee Garcia, this may be my first read by her, but absolutely will not be my last.

Venom is book 1 in the Rosewood Realm series.. and wow.. that’s really how I can explain it.. wow!

Venom is a Peter Pan retelling with a twist.. it focuses more on Hook and Tinksley. Tink is young and naive and in love with Pan but there’s secrets she’s unaware of. After he just up and leaves, she’s devastated and her devastation leads her right to Captain Hook.

What’s different about this retelling is that there are major twists to the story that will leave you SHOCKED. Here in Rosewood Realm, not everyone is what they appear to be. The author gave us the familiarity of Peter Pan and added her own twist to make this dark and thrilling! There’s so many secrets so many plans and Dee Garcia laid them all out beautifully in a well-written, well-paced story. I was hooked from the beginning. 5 stars!!

Heavy trigger alert.. this book deals heavily with suicide so take that into accountability before reading. I definitely recommend picking up this book if you love a dark fairytale with a little spice mixed in.

I really loved this book! And Hook/Callan swoon. He was amazing. Always wherever and whenever possible giving Tinksley choices. There were a few nagging problems. A few times we would have flashbacks to something that happened a few chapters prior. Not a different spin or different points of view, exact scene word for word. Everytime it happened it took me out of the story because I was like wait a minute, didn't I just read this? And the other problem was the h herself. Her character was very immature and she drove me nuts. But honestly the storytelling, chemistry, and Hook were so damn good, I overlooked both of these things. I've already bought book two and can't wait for the rest of this PNR spin on Peter Pan.
