I don't know what I think of this book. The most intricate, hilarious, witty writing. Often the most off the wall statements that I'm not sure should even be included as satire. Mental and brilliant. You could definitely tell it was written by a man though

Aside from the lesbophobia, sex-and-womanhood being written by a 70s male author & racist character name, I loved this book so much.

Nothing like I was expecting and everything I wanted. One of the best books I've read that I didn't even know I needed.

I just know I'm not going to enjoy this book. I like books that are told strangely and go on weird tangents but this was too much too early. Also there's a character named after a racial slur.

Tom Robbins is one of my favorite authors. In "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues," he's hilarious, random, and genius in the way he writes this story (sounds about usual).

I loved it, made my day as a 16 year old. Helped my form myself into a independant and strong woman.
And it was the only Tom Robbins book I could get into and out of.

This book didn't really age well for me. I loved it when I was a teenager, but now that I've got a couple of more decades under my belt, this really just comes across as literary masturbation written by an author who is more impressed with his ability to craft a witty run-on sentence than to tell a strong and lucid story. I'm a fan of Tom Robbins, but this story is problematic and not really among his best.
