Interesting

I found this to be a fine book. The concept was super interesting, and the writing was good, but as the book progressed everything played out in a way that was pretty expected (no interesting turns or surprises) and in the end I finished it moreso because I wanted to complete the boom than due to any vested interest in the outcome.

Also, one of my pet peeves in books is when the characters lie to themselves the whole time, and BOTH protagonists lie to each other and to themselves about their feelings for the majority of the book. Didn’t love that

A little inconsistent, I felt the narrative picked-up about halfway through. TBH could've used a hero grovel.

In the end, I didn't finish this one. There was something about the story and the characters that didn't capture me, so I put it down and it stayed down.

I got through more of this book than the other one i tried.... but the chemistry felt forced, as did the writing of the protagonist. This sounded like such a cute premise too.

I really liked the premise & the characters & there were some hilarious moments, but there was a LOT of internal monologuing. There were just pages and pages of an MC going over something that had just happened or happened in the past, which made it hard to stay invested in the story. Sometimes internal monologues really work for me, so it could be a mood thing, but there was also a lot of repetition with these monologues & in character’s thoughts. After about 25% I did a lot of skimming until I’d get to a scene with the two MCs—those were gold.

There were some serious flaws with this book, starting with the relatively flat lead characters. There's an insta attraction, but the chemistry isn't sold as well as our could be, and the only reason I didn't hate him calling her kitten was because that meant at least he wasn't calling her Princess for the 573rd time. The concept was funny. The dates were covered creatively. The one dimensional dudes were even a bit funny. This wasn't a horrible book, and I mostly enjoyed it, but it definitely didn't rock my world and I won't go out of my way to recommend it.

Cute, if unmemorable. I really enjoyed the main male character, as a character. The lady...not so much. (Her sidekick was great though!)
