i love this as a concept, and i feel like it would’ve been such a comfort book, but some of the characters were so icky to me. the way they consistently talked about the women’s weight was a big turn off for me, and i wish some of the women had wound up single & happy, rather than needing to find happiness with a man in the last 20 pages

This was a light and fluffy read that was predictable around every corner and tied up neatly in the end. Although I usually like resolution, I would have appreciated if just one of the love stories didn't end resolutely and perfectly. The characters and situation were cliche, especially with the Christmas Eve ending when everyone happily comes together at church.
I think this book jumped the shark when the characters talk about the end of their love story and say the name of the book out loud:
"So how's this book going to end then?"
"Oh happily. Like all the best books. And it would be called...How to Find Love in a Bookshop."
