i loved the beginning of this book but around the 60% mark?? it was just too long… i was kinda over it by then.

i like the mmc, he grew on me and i liked the fmc.

i’m confused by a couple of things though, the daughter seems to be older than what she is? and i don’t know if the author realized that? also the fmc
prosing
…. i knew we lost the plot there…

but whatever! i will read other things by this author… (maybe)

One star for lemon and the other for at least trying becuase the tropes were amazing, the execution of it was not.

I was eagerly waiting for this book to come out as soon as my friend sent me the synopsis of it.
It would've been better if I had never read the book and just left it on my TBR.

This would've been such a good book if the characters had some spark (not only talking about hormones, kind of spark lol) , or had some depth to them. They were flat and running on infatuation and lust. There was nothing to like about the main characters nor the side characters except for the 6 year old daughter, Zoha. She was at least making some sense.

As per the authors Q & A on Instagram, one of her goals of the story was to represent the Pakistani culture: she did a horrible job with representation.
If you consider having desi names, phrases in Urdu, having an evil aunt or saying Ya Allah as representation, sorry to say you haven't read any good books. I have read a lot of books with desi representation while having smut, romance, and a plot in them, and those were WAYYY better than this. Representation isn't just phrases it's about the food , the culture, and the atmosphere surrounding the culture, especially during weddings or other festivities. When Life Gives You Lemons had a food fight in a wedding - I mean wth was that

If you're looking for a book with good Muslim rep, this is definitely not it. Good Pakistani rep, yes, felt like I was reading about my own relatives and community lol. I don't think the characters being 'sort of Muslim, but not really' added anything to the plot, so I'm not really sure why it was even included. Maybe because the majority of Pakistanis are Muslim, not all, but the majority are.

I've never read a book where the FMC has epilepsy, so it was really interesting to read about that. Zoha was the cutest little bean! The auntie was a b**** - stereotypical brown auntie behaviour lol!😂😂 Also, get you a man like Azeer!

The reason for them getting married was tenuous, but it all worked out in the end. Disclaimer: I don't advocate for this approach to marriage in real life, only for plot purposes.
