Way too much ego, racism, etc. Didn't like the character or the writing style

I felt like it gave a LOT of backstory before it got to the point of what the book is called. And that part was more adventure-filled.
I don’t love when people speculate on the person and their motivations which this book does.
It’s interesting to read early Everest books after reading more recent accounts of people going up with modern equipment and planning standards.

I’m impressed with the writing and the plot of this memoir. Wilson lived through such a different time and was a true adventurer.

This book was an interesting biography of Maurice Wilson. I can see why someone expecting an in-depth discussion of climbing Mt. Everest would be a little disappointed, since the actual climb is only part of his life's story. A quick, interesting read. My only complaint is the weird sections the author writes about their research in the second person? Second person narration is kind of a ~Not Like Other Books~ stunt in literary fiction and a truly bizarre choice in a biography.
