Blah blah blah. Manipulative and unbelievable. Skip it.
I didn't realize that this was a series and I will definitely be reading book #2. Apparently, this story is based on a Christmas song by the same name. The story revolves around 2 characters, lawyer Robert and 8-year-old Nathan who's mother is dying. Robert's story is the familiar Christmas theme of the Grinch learning the true meaning of Christmas and family. Robert was not a character I liked and I thought his turn-around was not authentic and too rushed. I thought Nathan's story was stronger. Although heart breaking and gut wrenching, the community feeling and love it generated was beautiful.
Made me cry, a few times. Definitely felt like I had heard or seen the story before but I connected well with the characters. It’s a good Christmas read.
Well, I just wanted a nice Christmas story and here I am crying. This was beautiful and moving.
Pertemuan keduanya, membuat kehidupan mereka berubah selamanya.m
Sungguh buku yg sangat indah dan mengharukan.... Dari pertengahan baca uda deres air mata ku :')

Very enjoyable Christmas read. The story was a little thin in places, resolutions came a bit too quickly. I would have liked to have seen this expanded a bit more beyond the bounds of a novella. Anyway, definitely worth the short time it takes to read.

The book had such a nice premise and at times it brought some tears in my eyes, but I can't help feeling that the title is a bit misleading and the narration a bit abrupt.
The chance meeting is hyped a lot, but it is not really what made all the difference for both of them. It was just the cherry on top and I cannot help thinking that their lives are not interwined at all. It was just something extra that pushed them forward, so I could not relate all of them together. If anything, I would have much preferred to have given more emphasis on the other characters' impact, which was huge. And the book does give them a lot of credit, but all in all, the cohesion was a bit all over the place.
It is also partly my fault, because even though this is a tiny book, I could not finish it in one seating. Always something happened and by reading only a few pages each time, the emotional toll was less and my investment low. So, take everything I said with a grain of salt.
PS: I would have liked if there was a bit less mention of God. It felt like every action they did or what they felt, it had to be owed to some higher power one way or another. There was barely any conversation that didn't include God and that took away from the characters themselves.

Sob. Fest. Holy guacamole. Just the right amount of saccharine for the holidays. Lots of tears and redemption. A proper sappy Christmas tale.
