After Hostile Hospital I was feeling a bit tired of the format of these books. And no questions were answered! But this book was super fun. It was quite a bit different than the others, and it was genuinely so funny.

All of my questions are still not answered, and things are as dire as ever, but I’m (hopefully) officially out of my Baudelaire slump!

It wasn’t my favourite - it really wasn’t. I didn’t like the carnival setting or the use of “freaks”

The ending chapters with the turban references made me really uncomfortable but so does someone using a cultural symbol as a disguise or costume.

I’m disappointed- but that cliff hanger was pretty good - I’m hoping the next one is better
