The first chapter or so started out slow for me.. But once I got into it I didn't want to stop! What a great story! :) I loved that they all stayed in the b&b during a big snow storm and discussed the murder.. And I loved how there were so many references to Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express.. I have never read that one, but I appreciated the connection regardless and I now want to read it soon :)

Great writing and great cast of characters! Looking forward to the next book!

This took me awhile to get into. The mystery was interesting, the similarities to the Christie book, the growing friendships were all good. The intro was long, likely because it was the start of a series. I love the idea of this though. Not sure I’ll continue in the series.

It's always a good day when you read another 5-star cozy! Bonus points for reading it with a friend! Mayhem at the Orient Express was inspired by Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express and features a kooky cast of characters, a Chinese restaurant, and a cat named Jerry Garcia. This book does have some spoilers for Murder on the Orient Express, so I would say, if you're interested in reading that one, maybe read it before you pick up this cozy mystery. There are only 5 books in this series, which seems like an attainable goal to me! So, I'm excited to continue on with A Tale of Two Biddies in the coming months.

This book is all about characters and the mystery behind the main character's background. The actual murder mystery plot is more like a joke but that's why this is a cozy mystery you read by a fireolace

This was a good start to a new cozy mystery series. I haven't read Mystery on the Orient Express so I think I did miss a few of the references to that probably but it didn't detract from the story. The mystery kept me guessing until the end and the characters were interesting. I definitely want to know more about the main character's back story. I will check out the next in the series.

This is an entertaining cozy with a fun (if far-fetched) premise. I love the bookish vibe and how the murder that happens shows similarities to the club's reading pick. The setting is colorful, the characters stereotypical (but with promise), and the plot is fast-paced. A willing suspension of disbelief is surely required here, as is often the case with cozies, but overall, I enjoyed this one. I'm definitely planning to read the next installment in the series. I'd give this one a B-.

Found this one at Half Price and fell in love with the title. The book does not disappoint. This book has everything a cozy Murder needs. Can’t wait to read book 2.

Kylie Logan is one of my favorite writers whether writing as Kylie Logan or Casey Daniels. I love all of the series she's written that I've read so far. She had me with her Pepper Martin, the paranormal cozy series with the cemetery guide who reluctantly talks with ghosts. She's kept me with her Button Box series (who knew buttons could keep me enthralled) and now there's the League of Literary Ladies mystery series.
The premise is nifty: a group of women are court-ordered to join a book club. They need to stop bickering and the library needs patrons.
Each character makes me laugh and alternately want to hug or smack them. The mystery is super, the ladies needing to find the killer of the owner of their favorite Chinese restaurant. They are going to miss their orange peanut chicken. And there's more to it than meets the eye, especially with each of the ladies.
There are still tiffs among the group of ladies, each one has a distinct personality. The story is told through the eyes of Bea Cartwright, owner of the bed and breakfast on the small island of South Bass in Lake Erie, but the story is group driven.
I really look forward to more of this fun series. And anything else Kylie/Casey writes.
