I just couldn't relate to the character(s) in this story. Plus I thought that the main character was just there going along with the story and not really taking an active role.

I liked it even though I hated the writing style and thought it was b grade, personally. Loved the twists and turns. Easy to read. Short read. I think the ending could have had more excitement to get me to keep reading. But because I retardedly bought something like book 5 or 7 I'm going to keep reading.

Having just caught up with Chloe Neill's "Chicagoland Vampires", and anxiously awaiting the next installment, I figured I would check this series out, due to a friend's recommendations. Overall, It was just alright. I found myself unable to connect with any of the characters, and being easily distracted by other things. My friend said she loved this series, and there seems to be many books...so I'll read the second one and give it a chance.

2.75 haha I know that’s a very odd and annoying rating but it wasn’t a simply good fluff book like a 3 but it was above the 2 status too.

Okay so the bad first. I hated the mean girl click cliche. And to top it off it was not even normal mean girl click stuff like legit Claire was pushed down a flight of stairs and her life was threatened by this group of girls for absolutely no reason at all within the first 30 pages. I mean I know Morganville is supposed to be different but that is just unbelievable. Another thing... Claire’s stupidity. Like she's supposed to be some 16-year-old wonder kid in college but when her life is threatened multiple times she decided to stay in the town and go to classes because of unreasonable excuses. Which leads me to something else I didn’t like...How the author explains things, especially towards the end. It seemed rushed and not very explanatory at all. It just hopped from one scene to the next at times. Lastly, I was not at all convinced of the romance that started in this book. I wouldn’t consider it instalove because really it was just a nice make out sesh but nothing really other than Claire saying that she thought he was cute really gave us any indication of it actually being a thing.

Okay now that I’ve made you think I absolutely loathe this book let’s talk about the good. I liked the cohesiveness and loyalty of the roommates and their banter with each other made the book fun to read a lot of the time. Another thing I enjoyed was when Claire had her bursts of confidence or determination. I really don’t like the damsel in distress" I need help all the time" main characters so I liked when that side of Claire peeped out. And lastly, I don’t know how to explain but I just didn’t find it to be terrible. It was okay. It entertained and distracted albeit shallowly.
