I was looking forward to starting some spooky reads and this one was disappointing. A girl goes back to her hidden small hometown where there are witches and other dark magic. There were some interesting aspects but I kept getting bored. Also some of the relationships felt a little more high school rather than people in their mid/late 20s.

“I believe this world is filled with nothing of the normal, that we are all monsters and freaks, and if my beliefs are true, we can escape the shadows to find one another.”

I’ve been in a spooky mood lately and this really hit the spot. This had such a good Halloween atmosphere.
Spooky magic town? Check.
Witches, ghosts, and a cat named Casper? Check.
A forbidden relationship with a dark, powerful, MASKED

I really liked the spooky, gothic, fall vibes. Honestly the vibes and how they describe the little town were by far my favorite parts of the book. The magic was interesting, the characters were okay, and the writing felt a little awkward at times.
Vibes 4.5/5
Plot 2.5/5
